Twin-guitar-driven rock ’n roll from the lowlands. Rock ‘n roll in its purest form, firmly founded on Tanco Baart’s enthralling drum rhythms, Michiel Slager’s groovy bass lines, and the virtuoso fourhanded guitar solos of Matthijs Hoitsma and guitarist/singer Marijn Slager – the duo widely regarded as the best guitar-entity below sea level. The Pheromones don’t beat about the bush. They make raw rock music with a hint of blues, and stay away from anything hip.
“We feel good about adding a new dose of rock to the world. Herman Brood is a Dutch legend, Golden Earring our Dutch rock pride. We believe our country currently lacks this type of raw music, so needed to counteract today’s polished, feeble rock music. And so we are determined to infect everyone with our rock virus.”
The Pheromones exploded on the scene in 2013 with their fist-pumping hit ‘Stronger’. Their music fuses the naked beauty of rock’n’roll with the raw spirit of old-time blues. Their distinctive and positive-vibed pop songs will blast through your speakers and remind you of bands such as XTC, Arctic Monkeys and The Rolling Stones. They strut in the footsteps of Dutch heroes such as The Golden Earring and Van Halen. Like the ’70s, this twin-guitar-driven band is catchy like syphilis. Like The Pheromones, you shall rock out. Julia Rosenhart (16.00-16.45 uur)
Julia Rosenhart is een Nederlandse singer-songwriter en pianiste, opgeleid aan het Conservatorium van Antwerpen. Haar muziek vermengt introspectieve teksten met dromerige synths en onverwachte melodieën. Denk aan een eigenzinnige mix van Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright en Kate Bush. Vanuit haar thuisbasis in Amsterdam Noord laat ze zich inspireren door de lokale creatieve scene, waarbij ze samenwerkt met zowel muzikanten als beeldend kunstenaars. In september van dit jaar verscheen haar EP Brimstone. Hierop duikt Julia in de spanning tussen hoop en eenzaamheid, verbeelding en zelftwijfel. De single en videoclip vormen het begin van een artistiek project over innerlijke strijd, zingeving en een vleugje van het bovennatuurlijke. Haar optredens nodigen je uit in een diep persoonlijke wereld, intiem, magnetisch en soms haast buitenaards.
